Everyone
gets colds and flus, but they can be prevented and the symptoms
reduced when sick.
Here are some strategies to help
you treat and prevent colds and flu:
- Do you take at least two to five
hundred mg of vitamin C each day? This will aid your immune system
and works as an antioxidant to keep cells healthy and prevent
viruses. This is especially helpful if you smoke.
- Do you get adequate sleep/rest
so that you do not get physically of mentally run down? This is
best cure-all that the entire animal kingdom knows about.*See
section on insomnia.
- When you start feeling the symptoms
of a cold or flu do you start taking echinacea and zinc lozenges?
This may help keep the symptoms from getting severe, and may lessen
the duration of the illness.
- Do you always drink adequate clear,
non-caffeinated fluids to keep your cells healthy? (at least two
litres/quarts per day)
- Do you wash your hands or use antibacterial
gel when you are out in the community during the cold and flu
season? Also try not to touch your face.

and stress management.
